Privacy Policy
This site is run by Tom Barber, an independent web designer based in Bournemouth, South West UK. This page explains what personal data tombarber.dev collects, why, and what your rights are. I keep it short and plain — if anything is unclear, just email me.
What I collect
- Enquiries you send me. When you use the contact form I receive the name, email address and message you provide, so I can reply to you.
- Spam protection signals. To stop automated abuse of the contact form, your IP address and basic browser signals are checked by Cloudflare Turnstile when you submit it.
- Anonymous usage data. I use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site performs. This does not identify you and there is no tracking across other websites.
I do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, so this site does not show a cookie consent banner.
Why I use it and my legal basis
- Responding to your enquiry — on the basis of taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in running my business.
- Protecting the contact form from spam and abuse — on the basis of my legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.
- Measuring traffic and performance — on the basis of my legitimate interest in improving the site, using anonymous data only.
Who I share it with
I never sell your data. I use a small number of trusted service providers (sub-processors) to run the site:
- Resend — delivers contact-form enquiries to my inbox.
- Cloudflare — provides the Turnstile spam check on the contact form.
- Vercel — hosts the site and provides the anonymous analytics and performance measurement.
Each of these processes data on my behalf under their own terms. Some may process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
How long I keep it
I keep enquiry emails for as long as I need them to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards, then delete them. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous and is retained by Vercel on my behalf.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict how I use it. To make a request, email me at tom@tombarber.dev.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
